that glitter used to be
made of glass
The performance “She asked me
if I knew that glitter used to be made of glass” is based on
research on light and drag performance that started in the
performance “On the edge of the world/light: Shimmering” shown
in Gallery Miroslav Kraljević GMK at the beginning of 2025.
Three drag performers perform a fiction about lightkeepers and
lamplighters. Using various light-bodies that they embody and
put in relation to their bodies and costumes. A pile of glitter
is accumulating in the corner, they shine or not depending on
your position, and on the sources of light that are reflected
from them, some visible, some not. Through the accumulation of
text, light-bodies, costumes and elements in space, we build a
narrative in which three drag performers search, exchange speech
and lip-sync and perform for each other and the others present a
story about light and darkness, glitter and shine.
In this drag performance, we use elements of club performance
and forms created as resistance and celebration of queer
identity in the community.
